Obituary of Aileen Leben

It is with sadness that we mourn the passing on July 30th of Aileen Leben (a"h), cherished wife for 62 years of Theodore Leben (z"l); beloved mother of Sue Shefman, Teena and Buddy Slatkin, Lecia and Jim Sud, and David Leben; honored grandmother of Shana and Corby, Daucie, Leanna, Daniel and Alyson, Ari, Jonathan, Cassie, Robert, Adam, Jewel, Lara, and Libby; great-grandmother of Aidan, Scarlett, Lyla, Lincoln, Darwin, Wolfie and Gabriel; Also survived by sister-in-law Louise Boucher. Aileen was born to Ruby and Geoffrey Boucher in Mulvane, Kansas on June 20th, 1922. She was a proud relative of Daniel Boone, and was the eldest of five children. Her siblings were Barb Elliott (OBM), Milford Boucher (OBM), Rolly Boucher (OBM) and infant Billy Joe Boucher (OBM). She grew up on a farm, surviving the Dustbowl and the Great Depression. After graduating from a one-room school house and Augusta High School at the age of 16, she put herself through nursing school where she met her husband, and partner in life, Theodore (z"l). Judaism was incredibly important to Aileen; she was Sisterhood president at her Temple in Kansas and president of Hadassah, Temple House Chair and the Israel Bond Chair with her husband for years. She taught her family the importance of Zionism and valuing family first and foremost. She dedicated her life to Righteous giving. Four generations recently came together on a Shabbat to celebrate Aileen's 93rd birthday. She was truly the matriarch of her family and will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be on Sunday, August 2nd at 12:30 in the sanctuary of Congregation Agudas Achim (7300 Hart Lane, Austin, Texas). Burial will follow immediately thereafter in the CAA section of Austin Memorial Park -- 2800 Hancock Drive. The family requests that donations may be made in Aileen's (z"l) loving memory to the building fund of Temple Emanuel in Wichita, KS which her family helped establish and was their pride and joy - http://emanuelict.org; or the American Heart Association -- www.heart.org.
