Obituary of Sheldon Rose

Sheldon Rose, Husband of Francene Rose; Father of Larry (Terrie) Rose and Brian (Lisa) Rose; Grandfather of Elizabeth (Joshua) Miskovich, Rebecca Rose, Max Rose, Joshua Rose, Sarah Rose and Rachel Rose. Sheldon was born April 17, 1936 in Denver, Colorado to Anne (Zenick) Rose and Ralph Rose. He graduated from North High School in 1954. Sheldon received his undergraduate and Master degree in Education from the University of Denver. On September 4, 1960 he married Francene (Idleberg) Rose. Nine months later, on the date of his burial, June 27, his first son, Larry, was born. Brian, their second son, was born 3 1/2 years later. They have been blessed with 6 grandchildren and a new grandson-in-law. Sheldon was a dedicated father and grandfather who always wanted the best for his family. He was fondly called by the grandchildren, "Grandpa Shelly Belly." Sheldon began his teaching career at National Jewish Hospital. For over 20 years, he dedicated himself to the education of the children receiving care at the hospital. He finished his professional career at North High School where students nicked named him "Silver Fox." After his retirement from Denver Public Schools, he volunteered for Douglas County Public Schools as a teaching assistant. During the summers, Sheldon along with Francene (aka Mother for the Summer) directed Camp Shwayder. Sheldon and Francene have many friends and neighbors from the Denver and Highlands Ranch communities. They are particularly grateful for their west side friendships, many of which have spanned 70 years. There were many interests and passions that Sheldon pursued. At NJH, he was known as "Hondo" on the basketball court. When his body allowed, he loved biking, fishing, and gardening - especially roses and tomatoes! Chapel service, Monday, June 27, 2016 at 1:00PM, Feldman Mortuary Chapel followed by Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery. Contributions to Hebrew Education Alliance or Shalom Cares.
