Obituary of Elaine S. Hirschman

Elaine Hirschman (née Stein) of Denver, age 99, born April 10, 1918 in Chicago, IL. Preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Adrian. She is survived by her children Sue Daigle (Brian) of Aurora and Stan Hirschman (Elissa) of Plano, TX, grandchildren Scott Daigle (Verena), Craig Daigle (Jennifer), Andrea Daigle and Sarah Hirschman Neve (Tristan) as well as two great-grandchildren, Abagail and Kiran.
She was a graduate of Pestalozzi-Froebel Teacher’s College, one of the first early childhood learning centers of education in the United States.  She later married, raised Stan and Sue and continued her career helping others for more than 25 years as a social worker for the Denver Housing Authority.  Following retirement she stayed active as a longtime volunteer at Denver’s Children’s Hospital and later as a hospice volunteer.
Special appreciation is extended to the many friends who shared so much of her life.  And to those at Brookdale Lowry who laughed, cajoled and cared for her the last three years to whom she is eternally grateful, and the loving care given at Denver Hospice, their kindness cannot be repaid.
Memorial Service, Thursday, 9:30am, Temple Emanuel-Feiner Chapel
Donations, in lieu of flowers, to Children’s Hospital or the Denver Hospice, would be most appreciated.
