I will always remember Nick as “threads”. He was the coolest, live out loud guy at unca. Happy he touched so many lives in a positive way and sending my best to his family who must be suffering deeply at this time
I am devastated to hear about Nick‘s passing. I went to college with him and he was an amazing friend that I’m so sad I had fallen out of touch with. I have such fun memories of him- he and Colin coming to my volleyball games with a megaphone, and being told by the ref to stop. Dance parties at the soccer house. Laughing and hanging in the dorms. He was such a force of fun and humor and irreverence and joy. What a terrible loss for the world. My heart is with his wife and family.
His father Bob is and always will be one of the many exceptional men I’ve been blessed to know and I am sure his genes passed through to his wonderful son.
I’m the one blessed in knowing him through his incredible father!
Nick lived every moment of his life to the fullest with an unrivaled energy and exuberance. His infectious spirt and passion for life influenced/impacted all who knew him. He matched this with a deep care and empathy towards his family and friends.
All of these traits Nick exemplified had a significant impact on me and how I live my own life. We both shared a special connection and respect for the environment and the natural world around us. It is so difficult to say goodbye too soon. My heart goes out to his family and all who loved Nick. He truly was a special human being.
Sending love to all the Sands, everywhere, and to all that knew and loved Nick. Words are insufficient to describe how special he was. His love for Paty and Julia was a tribute to how amazing they are, as well. He will be mourned for a long time.
