Sonya (Rudman) DeGeorge, born July 17, 1927 passed away on June 12, 2019. A lifelong Denverite, she was surrounded by family when she left us at the age of 91. Sonny, as she liked to be called, was known for her wit, sense of humor, style and her love of travel. Sonya took pride in her prowess as a shoe salesperson leading the luxury shoe sales at Neusteter’s, The Denver Dry and Neiman Marcus. Sonya was a third generation Denver native with strong roots in the Denver Jewish community. She was involved at BMH and Beth Joseph (where her family were founders) when her children were younger. Sonny was close to her siblings when growing up. Sonny was loved by her three children and five grandchildren. She played a key role in family get-togethers and events. Sonya is survived by children, Gary DeGeorge, Mark DeGeorge and Diane (DeGeorge) Loughlin (Tom); her grandchildren, Heather (Loughlin) Kessler (Steve), Ryan DeGeorge, Cailin DeGeorge, Kelsey DeGeorge and Alex DeGeorge; and sisters, Rhoda King, Roslyn Cash and brother Bencion Mutnick. Services will be held graveside, 2:00PM, Friday, June 14, 2019 at Mount Nebo Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
