Obituary of Michael Lee Connolly

Michael "Kilroy" Lee Connolly

December 6, 1949—March 16, 2025

Mike was born and raised in Chicago. Shortly after college he went to work for the Department of Veteran’s affairs. He worked at two hospitals in Chicago, then went to Loma Linda, California and finally landed in Denver in 1981.

Mike was well respected and liked while employed at the Denver VA Hospital. He had so many friends from Chicago and his work. He retired in 2005.

Mike loved golf, sports, and small-time gambling. He had one of the best senses of humor, which was often very sarcastic. Every day he made me laugh. One of his very good friends said, “Mike was all about the entertainment...Good for some laughs.” He was the treasurer of the Men’s League at Springhill Golf Course for multiple years. He was also a member of the Men’s Club at Heather Gardens.

His health took a drastic turn in 2010 when he had a massive stroke. He made a remarkable recovery from that stroke, but his health continued to decline. It was a long and arduous time for both of us.

Mike is survived by his wife Marie, several stepchildren and grandchildren, his sister Marilyn, and several nieces and nephews.

He will be missed and remembered for many years and by many people.

Mike will be cremated in a green manner using alkaline hydrolysis AKA water cremation; he then will be used as fertilizer to nourish our earth.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_cremation

A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
