Obituary of James Orlin
James Neil Orlin, age 75, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025.
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, James was the eldest son of Stanley and Meryl Orlin. He spent nearly his entire life in Denver, aside from three years attending college at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
James had a deep love for travel, visiting more than 40 countries with curiosity and a spirit of adventure. He made friends everywhere he went—his warmth, generosity, and quiet wisdom touched countless lives. Always quietly willing to help those in need, James made the world better simply by being himself.
He spent most of his professional life in the dry cleaning industry, where he developed innovative techniques for cleaning leather garments. Earlier in life, he worked in the entertainment industry doing light and sound, and as a teenager, he found joy in singing in a choir. Music was a lifelong passion—he loved nearly every genre, especially classical.
James was funny, joyful, and full of life. He was truly fun to be around—his sense of humor and easygoing nature brought laughter and lightness to those around him. Time spent with James was time well spent.
In his own words, his final request for his memorial was simple and heartfelt:
“Enjoy the time and have some laughs. Thank you for being my friends. Remember only that I love you all… and the good times we had together.”
A memorial service celebrating James’s life will be held at Feldman Mortuary on Saturday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please honor James by taking a journey—near or far—in his memory.
Donations in his name may also be made to the Colorado Symphony, an organization close to his heart:
