I am saddened by the loss of my dear friend, Jan. She filled my life with love, humor, generosity, and compassion. We shared a passion for teaching children with special needs, and became friends in the 90’s through this common interest. The stories we shared were countless. I, truly have never known another educator who was as generous as Jan, and who shared her heart with her students and their families!
One of my fondest memories from many years ago that I will never forget is when she purchased a kayak. Judy and I helped her pick it up and tie it to the roof of her car. We followed her home to make sure she got there. It wouldn’t fit in the garage so she was going to sleep in the car to protect the kayak. Then it began to rain, and she was concerned it was getting wet. Mind you, a kayak is intended for water! It was statements like that, that always made me chuckle. There are too many other memories to include here!
I miss you, Jan! You are forever in my heart!

Please accept my deepest sympathy in the passing of Jan.
She was a beautiful person who made our world a better place!
I was blessed to enjoy quite a few adventures with her in our
"old" days when we were young.

I have known Jan since we shared some classes at Scarsdale HS. We had an English teacher, Miss Dyer who was ever so comical, but extremely strick when reading our compositions....no matter how hard we tried and no matter how many hours we would agonize, our papers always came back the same.
Red marks and myriads of arrows and comments..." wacky thinking" comes to mind. We never forgot the experience..just mentioning her name or reciting "Bubble, Bubble, toil and trouble" would have us doubled over laughing.
I was then housed in the same dorm as Jan at Vermont College. Our times there led to a life time of friendship with Jan and her lively roommate Nancy Wolverton Graf.
Distant cities often kept us apart, we met when we could, but the phone calls always hours, long kept us knowing what was going on in each other's lives.
I will miss the fun loving and thoughtful woman Jan was. Such wonderful memories!
PS if Miss Dyer is reading this, please forgive me for the run on sentences, inappropriate comas and whatever else you could come up with.

Always enjoyed seeing Jan when see would visit our ski group (David Graf, Ralph Cardinal and Steve Willard) at Breckenridge starting in the 80's. Jan was always fun whether on the slopes or a trip to the Moose Jaw tavern for burgers. She will be missed
by all of us. Farwell Jan!

Jan and I met in 1964 as freshman at Vermont College where we were roommates. Too many tales to tell but I will cherish the memories. We have remained close with Jan in my wedding and attending all my children's weddings. She especially adored my daughter, Betsy. They shared a love of horses and she was able to visit Betsy’s ranch in Colorado a few times. Jan was kind and generous and always treated others like family. She will be missed by so many and never forgotten.

Jan was indeed a very special Lady. I met her in the mid-60's when she was a student at Vermont Academy. We stayed friends for many years and skied often in Colorado.
I will certainly miss her.
