Obituary of Renee Cutler

In Loving Memory of Renee Beverly Cutler

Beloved Wife • Mother • Grandmother • Great-Grandmother • Friend

Renee Beverly Cutler, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away surrounded by those who loved her deeply. Her life was woven with compassion, laughter, and devotion to family, faith, and community.

Renee met her husband, Edward M. Cutler, on a blind date—an encounter that blossomed into a lifetime of love. They were married in 1954, the day Edward received his commission in the Navy and soon relocated to Pensacola, Florida, for pilot training. After completing his training, Edward was stationed in Hawaii. During their time in Hawaii, Renee developed a deep affection for the islands. This affection turned into a passion for travel that would last a lifetime

She was the proud mother of Helene Cutler Wolk and the late Jonathan Cutler, and a devoted grandmother to David Barocas (Anne), Andrea Barocas Lockhart (Steve), Mikayla Niehus (Cody), and Zachary Wolk. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren: Jason, Edison, Blake, Kaleb, Taytum Renee, and Luke.

Renee earned her BSN from UCLA’s nursing program and worked at Denver Children’s Hospital until 1960, when she chose to dedicate her care towards her growing family. That same dedication continued in every role she held—from mother to great grandmother.

She played bridge and bowled with Hadassah for over 30 years and was an active, beloved member of Temple Micah Sisterhood and Temple Emanuel. She traveled the world with an open heart and curious spirit, collecting stories and friendships wherever she went.

Renee created joy as flavorful and memorable as the meals she prepared for holidays. Her brisket, matzo balls, and chocolate matzo were legendary. She affectionately passed down her recipes, ensuring her joy will continue to nourish the next generations around the family table.

She danced at her grandchildren’s bar and bat mitzvahs and weddings, played bingo on cruises, and brought life to any card game. Renee’s warmth, spontaneity, and unwavering love made every room brighter.

Her legacy lives on through the memories she made, the traditions she created, and the family she nurtured with grace and laughter.
