Obituary of Gerald "Jerry" L. Lukton
Gerald “Jerry” L. Lukton
May 2, 1932 – July 29, 2025
Born May 2, 1932, in Denver, Colorado, Jerry grew up in downtown Denver and began working at a young age in jobs such as selling newspapers on South Broadway and bussing tables at the Brown Palace Hotel. He went on to build a successful career as an insurance and financial advisor, founding Gerald L. Lukton Co. and serving as a trusted professional in the financial and insurance sector for decades. Many of his clients became long-standing friends during his many years in practice.
As an adult, Lukton formally studied Judaism, converted under the guidance of friend and teacher Rabbi Rafi Sonnenfeld, and received the Hebrew name Yermiyahu ben Yisroel (Jeremiah, son of Israel/Jacob). His interest in Judaism originated from learning more about his father's family lineage. He held positions with organizations including B’nai B’rith Denver Lodge 171, Colorado Allied Jewish Federation, and the Committee for the Economic Growth of Israel. In 1993, Lukton co-founded the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Friends of Assaf Harofeh Medical Center. He was a member of Congregation Emanuel in Denver. He volunteered on an Israeli Army base through Sar-El Volunteers for Israel, and made numerous trips to Israel over the years.
His children are Lori, Cynthia (Cindy), Larry, Bert, Michelle (Shelly), Jennifer (Jenny), and Netanya. He had ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at Emanuel Cemetery within Fairmount Cemetery on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 9:45 AM. A live stream of the service will be available on Feldman Mortuary’s YouTube channel.
Following the funeral, a reception will be held at the home of Hauna Lukton & Frank Borst: 600 Willowrock Drive, Loveland, CO 80537. Please call or text Hauna Lukton with any questions: 970‑443‑2459
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to be made in Jerry's honor to either Craig Hospital Foundation, 3425 S. Clarkson St., Englewood, CO 80113; or to Temple Emanuel, 51 Grape St, Denver, CO 80220.
