Obituary of Abby Sandra Farina
Abby Sandra Farina, 75, of Broomfield, Colorado, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025.
Abby was born on February 24, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Rachel and Abraham Gelt. She graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School and went on to work in the financial aid departments at both New York University and Long Island University. Abby later moved to Colorado, where she worked for over 25 years as a paraprofessional with the Boulder Valley School District. She dedicated herself to various schools, impacting countless students' lives. Abby couldn’t walk around Louisville without being stopped by a former student, a testament to the lasting impression she made.
Abby met her husband, Jim, in Brooklyn, and they were married in 1975. Together, they raised two children, Jessica and Scott. Abby was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her two beloved grandchildren, Braxton and Ava, who were her world. Abby also cherished getting together with her close friends for breakfast.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Jim Farina; children, Jessica Hager (Todd Hager) and Scott Farina (Megan Farina); grandchildren, Braxton Hager and Ava Farina; and her brother, Michael Gelt (Susan Gelt); niece Stacy Malendes (John Malendes) and their daughter Hudson Malendes and nephew Jeffrey Gelt. Abby was preceded in death by her parents and other loved ones who will be deeply missed.
A funeral service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 9:45 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Abby’s memory.
