Obituary of Toby Hirsch

Toby Hirsch, Hebrew Name Toby’s daughter of Victor Hirsch and Sarah Weitzman Hirsch passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at the age of 80, after a brief illness and long life.

Toby Hirsch was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, educator and friend. She was known for her baking, ability to teach, creativity, craftiness, kindness, strength, humor, and education to family/community. Her life was a true blessing to all who knew her. She instilled in those she educated the ability to tackle difficult problems and appropriate solutions. She created a home that was a source of light and a gathering place for all. 

Born in Bronx, New York she dedicated her life to her family, friends, and career. She found joy in trying new restaurants, going to the theatre, traveling with her Daughter  Lia, playing cards, baking, needlepoint, crochet and shopping. 

She is survived by her loving Daughter, Lia Emanuel and her Grand Dog Mack the West Highland Terrier. Her Brother Jack, his Wife Ellen and their two children Carrie and Justin. 

Funeral and Shiva Information

The funeral service will be held on  Tuesday 11/4, 12:00noon EST, Star of David Memorial Chapels (1236 Wellwood Ave. West Babylon, NY 11704); Interment to follow at Wellwood Cemetery (1500 Wellwood Ave.)

The family will observe Shiva Tuesday 11/4 following interment and Wednesday 11/5 starting at around 11:00AM, at the home of Stephanie & Todd Smith: 72-11 110th St. #4-G, Forest Hills, NY 11375.

Memorial Contributions

In accordance with Jewish tradition, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to a charity meaningful to Contributions in Toby's name may be made to the Jewish Family Service for the benefit of Jewish Community Chaplaincy provided by the Jewish Family Service of Colorado
