Obituary of Dorothy Demby

Dorothy Demby of Centennial, Colorado, died November 14, 2025, at the age of 97. Dorothy was born and raised in New York City. As a young woman, she worked in the entertainment business as the personal secretary to singer Johnny Desmond. She met and married the love of her life, Robert Demby, and started her family. The family moved to central Florida in the 1960s, where Dorothy held a number of administrative and office managerial roles, including with Boeing at the Kennedy Space Center. After Robert’s untimely death, she relocated several times, winding up in Las Vegas, NV, for many years before coming to live in Denver in 2013 to be closer to family.

Dorothy is remembered for her quick wit and charming personality. A consummate storyteller, she could easily talk to anyone, particularly when bragging about her favorite topic, her family.

She is survived by her three children, Sandra Shaw (Ces), Alan Demby, and Steven Demby (Faye), as well as six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  

A Graveside Service will be held Monday, 11/17, 1:00 pm, at New Montefiore Cemetery, West Babylon, NY, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert. 

Donations can be made in Dorothy’s name at National Jewish Health, where she received great care.
