Obituary of Marc W. Zimmerman
Marc W. Zimmerman, born July 26, 1946, in Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away on February 9, 2026, in Denver, Colorado.
Marc grew up in rural Reno County, Kansas, where he developed a strong connection to community, hard work, and the values that guided him throughout his life. He graduated from Sterling High School and later earned his degree from Kansas State University. While at Kansas State he enjoyed being a member of the K-State Singers.
After graduating, Marc proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years and was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Following his military service, he began a distinguished career with Delta Air Lines in customer relations. He later retired from Delta’s Protocol Office, the division responsible for coordinating travel plans for members of Congress, the White House, the Pentagon, diplomats, and visiting dignitaries. Marc dedicated more than 30 years to Delta before his retirement.
In retirement, Marc made his home in West Seattle, Washington, where he built many close and lasting friendships. He was a devoted member of the St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church family. Two years ago Marc moved to Denver, Colorado, to be closer to his family.
If you knew Marc, you knew his deep love of travel and exploring the world. He visited every continent many times, and found great joy in experiencing the history, food, and people of the countries he explored. His curiosity, warmth, and appreciation for different cultures were a defining part of who he was.
Marc also loved to cook. He especially enjoyed entertaining, trying new recipes, and sharing meals with friends and family. He was always exploring an interesting cookbook in search of his next culinary adventure.
Marc was preceded in death by his companion, Scott Wallendorff, and his parents, Ross and Mary Ann Zimmerman, and brother, Mike Zimmerman.
He is survived by his sister, Margo Allenbach; his niece, Amy Hladik and her husband, Jason; and his grand-nephew, Ryder Hladik, and grand-niece, Penny Hladik.
Marc’s inurnment will be in West Seattle, Washington, and Sterling, Kansas, at future dates.
Marc will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered by his family and friends.
