Obituary

Rita Thomas (nee Benson) was born on October 15, 1932 in New York City. Rita passed away on March 29, 2026 from natural causes. She leaves behind her children, Anne Richter (Larree Chetelat) and Jeff Thomas, and three grandchildren, Abigale Chetelat, Jack Chetelat, and Coby Thomas. Rita married Paul Richter in 1956; She later married Jerome (Jerry) Thomas on June 8, 1968. They were married for nearly 40 years before Jerry passed in 2007. She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1950. While living in New York, she worked in various positions including as a travel agent and executive assistant. She moved to Colorado with Jerry in 1970, and soon started a career in real estate, marketing time shares for mountain resorts - a position she enjoyed for over forty years.  She loved socialization, music, and animals (especially puppies).

UPDATED SERVICE DETAILS: Visitation & Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 15^th at 11:30 AM at Feldman Mortuary Chapel, immediately followed by the service. Kaddish will be read at graveside at Fort Logan National Cemtery at 2:30PM (please meet at the Ft. Logan Administration Building at 2:15pm). Reception will be held at Rita's daughter Anne’s home – 21779 E Mercer Pl. Aurora CO 80018 – All are welcome to come celebrate Rita’s joyful life! Rita was a fan of vibrant colors and the family asks that you dress colorfully for the services – she would love that!
