Obituary of Edmund Pepper

On April 22, 2026, the world lost a gentle, joyful soul when Edmund L. “Ed” Pepper passed away at the age of 86. Born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1940, Ed was a proud Colorado native whose life was rooted in the Denver community he loved so deeply. Except for his three years serving as an officer in the United States Navy, Denver was always home.

From a young age, Ed’s life revolved around sports, friendship, and music. He grew up playing baseball and became an all‑city standout at Denver’s East High School, eventually earning a spot with minor league affiliates of the Chicago Cubs. His love of learning led him to the University of Denver, where he earned both a bachelor’s degree and his MBA. His professional life took shape in sales and ultimately flourished over three decades as a commercial real estate broker with Shames Makovsky Realty Co.

Ed was an avid golfer, a lifelong sports fan, and a talented drummer who played professionally. More than anything, he was known for his easygoing nature — warm, friendly, and always happy to help.

Ed’s greatest joy began on Mother’s Day in 1966, when he met Marilyn Bordman, the love of his life. They married that Labor Day and spent nearly 60 years building a life filled with devotion, laughter, and family. Ed is survived by Marilyn; son Bryan (Heather) Pepper of San Clemente, CA, daughter Jill (Todd) Kiefer, and grandson Nathan Kiefer of Alexandria, VA; and his sister Elka Haligman of Englewood, CO. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who adored him.
