Beautiful Kaycie. Lovely friend, lovely mother. Kaycie and Steve, simply lovely together. So many, many memories, going way back to Alaska days. It was in the hockey stands watching Black Ice games that I first got to really know Kaycie. Later it was the Flying H’s we came to cheer on. There was camping, kayaking, skiing, cabin and yurt trips, dinners at their house, holidays, pumpkin carvings, dancing in their kitchen, guac night. Kaycie and Steve reducing our then 1-year-old to the happiest of giggles, squeals and laughter, blowing raspberries on a Tolovana trip. Kaycie’s ability to transform a massive skillet of vegetables into something magical. No one could make vegetables and herbs cool like Kaycie could. Kaycie’s love of bungalows. The camping trip to Kenosha Pass – a tent site covered with campfire soot and all the kids covered from head to toe in black and Sultana was even worse. It really was a hot mess, but Kaycie was the farthest thing from bothered. She was just happy to be spending time with family and friends in her Colorado. Kaycie is our all-time favorite family physician. Both of our kids were diagnosed as preschoolers with food allergies and as they struggled to understand a world that couldn’t include ice cream and chocolate, it was Kaycie both times that dried their tears, held their hands and helped them believe that it was going to be ok. One especially happy night we got to spend with just Steve and Kaycie, about to become first-time parents, cooking up Chinese and singing praises to our love of baby bok, of all things.
Colorado won’t be Colorado without Kaycie in it, but we thank the heavens for the time and memories with Kaycie.
With so much love and condolences to Steve and Brook and Luna, Steve and Kaycie’s families, all long-time AK/CO friends,
Bob and Kendra, Eva and Christian
