Obituary of Kees McConnell

Our beloved son, Kees (Casey) McConnell, 56 years old, passed away in his Lakewood, CO home on 16 May 2026. He is survived by his parents Bear and Jody McConnell of Colorado Springs, CO; his children Garrett Joseph McConnell and Peyton Rowe McConnell; his former wife Kirstin McConnell-Jensen of Golden, CO; his fiancé Stephanie Kok of Canada; his Aunt Laurie and Uncle Edward Marsh of La Grange, IL; his Uncle Mike, Aunt Jenny and Hayley Meyer of Columbus, OH; his Uncle Pat and Aunt Sandy Meyer of Middleton, WI; his Cousin Flynn Meyer of Green Bay, WI; his Cousins Ethan and Sarah Meyer of Madison, WI; his Cousins Riley and Libby Meyer and their children Henry and Clara of Howard, WI; Aunt Cathy and deceased Uncle Peter Meyer of Wilmington, NC; his Cousins Ben and Katie Meyer and their children Lincoln and Zoey of Wilmington, NC; his Cousins Jason and Sarah Meyer of Wilmington, NC; and his Dutch family - Ineke and son Jorg Maier, Ben and Marga Raaijmakers and their sons Bart and Sjoerd, and Willie Raaijmakers and Marco Bentz.

Kees grew up in an Air Force family. He lived in Arizona twice, Great Britain, Illinois twice, Virginia three times, South Africa, Arkansas, and Colorado twice.

He gained a BS in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia. Ultimately, the lure of the mountains brought him back to Colorado where his son and daughter were born. He also earned his MS in Information Systems from the University of Colorado, Denver.

Funny, smart, a lover of animals, he was a hiker, marathoner, long distance swimmer, and engineer. He deeply loved his children and those friends closest in his life.
