Obituary of Henry "Hank" Goldstein
Born on November 12, 1930, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Henry Robert "Hank" Goldstein grew up in Mays Landing, New Jersey. After attending Atlantic City High School, he graduated from Upsala College in East Orange, New Jersey.
Following college, Hank served as an officer in the United States Navy, spending much of his nearly four years of service in Asia during and following the Korean War. After leaving the Navy, he attended Georgetown University Law School. Upon graduation, he practiced communications law in Washington, D.C., for five years.
In 1964, Hank joined a growing cable television company in San Diego, beginning a career that would take him around the world and place him at the forefront of several emerging communications industries. After 10 years as a cable television pioneer, he moved to London, England, to launch an international telephone communications company, which he later relocated to Switzerland.
Eleven years later, Hank returned to the United States and settled in Denver, Colorado, where he joined Daniels & Associates. He subsequently established a paging company, which was sold as the cellular telephone era began to emerge. His work in the cellular industry later took him to Hong Kong, where he was responsible for developing and operating a company providing cellular service in several Asian countries. He eventually returned to Denver, which remained his home.
Hank was a quiet force who had a profound impact on those fortunate enough to know him. A leader and role model, he lived his life with integrity, curiosity, a spirit of adventure, generosity, and, above all, love. Though quiet by nature, he possessed a remarkable strength and steadiness that drew people to him and left a lasting impression. He was deeply devoted to his family, who were at the center of his life. Those who knew him best were forever changed by the good fortune of having him in their lives—as family, friends, mentees, and colleagues. His influence was rarely loud, but it was deep, enduring, and immeasurable.
Hank was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Lauren, and his loving wife, Carol. He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Tuohig (Bill), Jennifer Jones (Rob), and Deborah Betson; and his grandchildren, Haley and Madison Tuohig and Oliver and Alex Jones.
