Santa Fe resident
volunteer and artist dies
at 89. Mrs. Hurst died
January 21st. Mrs. Hurst
was born in Denver to Hyman and Mollie
Rosenberg. Mrs. Hurst was proceeded in
death by her husbands Sam Iskow and Dr.
Allan Hurst and sister Thelma Ribnik
(Harold) Mrs. Hurst is survived by her
brother Marvin Rosenberg of Las Vegas
NV sons Stewart Iskow (Kathy) of
Albuquerque NM and Neil Iskow (Donna)
of Parker CO Dr. David Hurst (Lynn) of
Denver and Peter J. Hurst PhD. (Lauren) of
Bangkok Thailand daughter Victoria
Hurewitz (David) of Tulsa OK plus twelve
grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hurst graduated from Colorado
Women's College. In Santa Fe she served
on the board of trustees of the New Mexico
Jewish Historical Society. Her late
husband Dr. Allan Hurst was among the
Society's founders. Mrs. Hurst served as a
volunteer with the Santa Fe Opera and the
Case Trading Post at the Wheelwright
Museum. Her life-long passion for music
expressed itself first with the violin and
later the piano. As a violinist she played
with the Denver Businessman's Orchestra
for many years. For nearly two decades she
was an active antiques dealer. In the 1950's
and 60's Mrs. Hurst was a member of and
exhibiting artist with the Colorado
Watercolor Society. According to members
of her extended family she remained
unflappably strong and optimistic her
sense of humor always intact until the very
end. A memorial service will be held in
Santa Fe at Temple Beth Shalom on
Wednesday January 24th at 130 PM.
Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens
Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu
of flowers contributions be made to the
donor's favorite arts or music organization.
