Very sorry to learn of Rena's passing (eleven years on, but nevertheless...). My very first paying job was with Merry Go Round shoes on Central Park Avenue in Scarsdale back in 1983-ish - I used to walk there, over the hill from Ardsley, in the days before I even had a learner's permit, and loved working with Margaret O'Connor and others - lots of life lessons, business and otherwise, learned there in the back room (and front!) of Merry Go Round shoes... I can vividly remember Rena counting out the weekly wages in cash, sticking it in an envelope, and her card catalogue (as well as the actual merry go round - my kids are 11 and 9 now, and I wish we had a shoe shop here in Townsville, Australia, that catered for kids the way Rena's did) - a lot of 'corporate memory' that I hope hasn't been lost...! And that wedding cake of a car (Lincoln Continental, was it...?) Best wishes to her family - she was one of a kind, and I wholeheartedly salute her memory.
