Obituary of Harriet Kessler

Harriet Lindenbaum Kessler, born October 8, 1915 in Manhattan, NY. Long-time resident of White Plains, NY, passed away on October 26, 2012 in Colorado. Daughter of the late Mayer and Anna Lindenbaum, wife of 52 years to the late Dr. Benjamin Kessler, DDS, and beloved mother of Matthew J. Kessler of Shrewsbury, MA and Miles B. Kessler of Englewood, CO. Mrs. Kessler graduated from Hunter College High School in 1933. In 1964 she graduated from Hunter College in the Bronx and earned her MEd from CUNY in 1969. She fulfilled her life-long dream as an elementary school teacher at PS 24 in Riverdale, NY. Mrs. Kessler is survived by her two sons, their wives, Ava Gaa-Ojeda Kessler and Gail M. Shands; four grandchildren, Marc, Jeff, David and Benjamin; and two sisters, Mrs. Irma Rafal of NY and Mrs. Doris Pinsky Kaplan of FL. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2012, 1:00pm, at Congregation Kol Ami, 252 Soundview Avenue, White Plains, NY and internment will follow at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Vahalla, NY. Contributions may be made to Hadassah.
