Obituary of Marion Eichberg
EICHBERG, MARION
1920-2013
Marion T. Eichberg was born Marion Belle Tohrner September 14, 1920
in Franklin,
Tennessee to Martin and Sue Tohrner. Sue delivered Marion at home
and she was a
healthy from the beginning. About 2 years later, Marion Belle moved
with her mother to Pensacola, Florida where Sue had a brother.
Over the early years, Marion Belle was the Belle of the Ball! She
found her place in southern society and traveled across the ocean
with her family. Sue moved to Miami Beach with Marion and they lived
with Marion's Grandmother Bella. Growing up with 2 strong women
like Sue and Bella truly shaped who Marion was and would be. Marion
also lived for a time in New York City at the Barbizon Hotel with her
mother.
After graduation from high school Marion attended Penn Hall Junior
College just outside of Philadelphia. Back in Pensacola after her
graduation came World War II, where one night she met her life love
Robert. Robert's ship happen to be in Pensacola and he came to the
party with someone who knew Marion. It was love at first sight,
these two...the very handsome sailor and the lovely Marion. After
just three weeks they were married at Marion's grandmother's home in
Miami Beach and then Bob was shipped out for new duty. They ended up
in Denver, and settled into a home in a four-plex on 12th and Kearney
Street where during the next two years Robert and James were born.
In 1951, they made a move to 24 Ash where their third son Steven was
born. Marion spent the next part of her life raising her 3 boys, and
enjoying her good friends and family.
During the mid- 60's, Bob and Marion started traveling on their own
to destinations far and wide...they truly loved traveling together
and Marion was the consummate "travel agent" always assuring their
trips were memorable.
As the boys flourished and moved away, Marion and Bob decided to try
some warmer climates for a few months and ended up living during the
winter months in Rancho Mirage, California. They loved the lifestyle
as Marion was an avid tennis player and golfer. Soon they were
blessed with grandchildren, Adam (Jen) Eichberg, Abby (Peter)
Pletcher, Catie and Maxx Eichberg and years later her great grand
children, Ella, Theo, Rayna and Isaac, all of whom she cherished.
Her last days were filled with some hardship, but she never lost
sight of those she loved. She lived a full life of 93+ years, and
her family is grateful for the time we had with her during those
times and even as she closed her own chapter. God bless
you Marion Belle...Mom...and Mare (what all the grand children and
great grand children called her)....you are at rest
