Obituary of Gerald Broida
Gerald Broida was born in Pittsburgh, PA on Feb. 21, 1918 to Lucy and Theodore Broida. The family moved to Denver in 1919 where Gerald grew up with his brother Herbert, attending elemen- tary school and graduating from North High School in 1936. After graduation he was employed by various automotive businesses and later enrolled in diesel auto mechanics school in Los Angeles where he met his future wife, Rachelle Cordova. He joined the Army in 1941. He attended Officers Candidate School and was commissioned into the Army Air Corps and served from 1941 to 1945 as part of the largest war effort mankind has ever seen. His service took him to all parts of the world, including North Africa, China, Sicily and Egypt. He rose to the rank of Major and served 12 years in the Army Reserves. After the war he returned to the career he loved in the automotive industry, including ownership of a number of gas stations and garages in the Denver area. His passions while living on this earth were wine making, photography and travel. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rachelle, in 1991. He lived the last eighteen years of his life at Heather Gardens in Aurora. He will be missed. He is survived by his three children, Jeffrey (Jane) of Denver, Lynda (Quentin) Van Tassle of Steamboat Springs and Rickey (Sandy) of Denver; two grandchildren, Leah (Michael) Miller of Ossining, NY and Ryan Broida of Denver.
