Obituary of Joan Lander

Joan Lander, Wife of the late Neil Lander and the late Selvin Lewis; Mother of Mark (Lee Anne) Lewis and Brenda (Brian) Young; Grandmother of Andrew Lewis and Colin Lewis; Joan E. Lander, a long time Denver resident, passed away Sept. 8th in Boliva, North Carolina. Mrs. Lander was born Oct. 6, 1932 in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from East High School and received her Bachelors and Masters in Elementary Education at the University of Denver. She taught with the Denver Public School System. She was active in National Council of Jewish Women-Colorado Section serving as both Membership Vice President and Community Services Vice President. She also served on the NCJW Board with Shalom Park as her portfolio. She was also Musical Director and accompanist for NCJW’s Children’s Traveling Theatre. She led a Sing-a-long at Shalom Park for years. She was a Life Member of Hadassah.
