Mr. Bram was the only Holocaust survivor I got to know personally growing up. Mr. Bram was a profound leader at my Temple. My dad made sure to take me to his house very frequently, at the time I did understand the significance, but now I reflect frequently on Mr. Bram. There was the softest sincerity in his voice, one that echos in my head to this day. I contribute my strength in my Jewish identity to Mr. Bram, when I think of the strife and hardship that my people have gone through, Mr. Bram is a beacon of hope. Mr. Bram never expressed any hate, but only love, even after experiencing the darkest of humanities mistakes. When I went to Israel and went to the Holocaust Museum, I felt his presence there with me, and it overwhelms me even today. I brought a rock from that museum and brought it to his families resting place, I hope it brought him some joy seeing his contributions to his faith and state.

I knew Mister Bram briefly when I rented an apartment in Colorado Springs from him. It was totally by accident that I happened to notice the numbered tattoo on his left arm, which was his identifying number from his imprisonment in the death camp of Auschwitz. Mister Bram was a kindly and gentle soul, and I can't even begin to imagine what his life had been during the war. I think of him often and I have made a special effort to understand the terrible suffering that the Germans inflicted on so many innocent people, including Mister Bram and his family and so many millions more during that awful time.
