Obituary of Morey Langert
Born on February 14, 1921 in Denver, Colorado to Abraham and Augusta Langert he was the seventh of eight children. He attended North High School and in 1938 at the age of seventeen he earned his private pilot’s license at the Ray Wilson Flying School located at the Park Hill Airport. Upon entering World War II on October 24, 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he was trained in communications as a radio operator. Morey served in the 8th and 9th Army Air Corp in the European theatre stationed in England, Ireland and France. He was stationed in Germany after the surrender. He was discharged from the Army Air Corps after four years of service on January 31, 1946. Morey married Rosalyn Witkin, daughter of Bessie and Louis Witkin of Denver on January 01, 1951. He and his twin brother Harold owned Twin Jewelers in downtown Denver. He continued to work as a jeweler and watchmaker for the majority of his career with included managing the Fine Jewelry Department at the Cherry Creek Denver Dry Goods Co. As an inventor, his design for a specialized watch making tool was successfully marketed to wholesale distributors. Morey continued to offer his watchmaker skills to the senior community in Denver and Aurora until the age of ninety. In 2014 he moved to the Veterans Community Living Center at the Fitzsimons Campus in Aurora. On July 21, 2016 Morey suffered a severe heart attack and was transferred to the Denver Hospice where he died on Saturday July 30th at the age of ninety-five. Morey is survived by daughter Adrian Langert, son Alden Langert and Grandchildren Jakob and Cammie Langert all of Denver. Husband of the late Rosalyn Witkin Langert. Brother of the late Louis, Mike, Milton, and Harold Langert; Belle Mednick; Rose Mauel; and Jeane Mass of Arizona and California. Service, Monday, 11:00AM, Mount Nebo Memorial Park. Donations can be made in Morey’s name to the St. Judes Children’s Cancer Research Center.
