Dr Claman was my Ph.D. Mentor at the Univ CO Health Sciences Center in Denver. He was indeed a brilliant and generous man of spirit and knowledge. I will always remember him fondly for his insightful and caring tutelage. My condolences to his extended family. May your memories of Henry keep his spirit and love alive.

I only met Dr. Claman twice, but it was clear what a generous, fun-loving, and intelligent man he was. And, he did one of the most famous experiments in the history of immunology. Condolences. Martin Flajnik

I share the sense of great loss that all who knew Henry and especially his family must feel at his passing. My sincerest condolences to his family. Henry and I were friends at Horace Mann-Lincoln School from 1942-46, drawn together by our mutual love of classical music. On a visit to his home, he showed me a trio he had composed at age 13. After 1946, we saw little of each other, but it was always a great pleasure to see him at reunions and to occasionally correspond with him by email.
His obituary makes it clear how modest Henry was in describing his achievements in medicine in his alumni notes. The obituary fails to mention that he also had an older sister, Stephanie. The obituary is also silent on how well Henry accepted the many tragic events in his life and continued to make the most of his life thereafter, even writing two books on art. He wrote that if he had it to do over again, he would have wanted to be an artist.
The world is a poorer place without Henry. May he rest in peace.

I was privileged to be a high school classmate of Henry Claman. He was an outstanding student and a star of the swimming team. He also was serious about humanities as well as science, and it was touching to read that he carried this throughout his career.
My own medical research career was in a different field but I was aware of his important contributions to fundamental immunology research. A prodigious man and his death is a great loss to his family, friends, and science.

The entire Talmage family wishes to send our offers of sympathy and peace. Dr. Claman was an intellectual giant and he has left an indelible mark on all of science with his contributions. Dr. Claman said such kind words at my father's memorial a couple years ago that I could only hope to express the mutual admiration that my father had for Dr. Claman. He truly had a life well lived.

I want to send my condolences to Janet and David. It has been a great honor to have Henry as a teacher, colleague and friend. I have fond memories of his lectures at the 9th avenue campus and I learned a lot from him. His voice will also be missed at the High Holiday services at TE. I recall that Henry was fond of quoting Samuel Johnson and this quote, which may or may not be attributable to Mr. Johnson is nonetheless apropro "The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good". Rest in Peace Dr. Claman.

Henry was a leader in everything. From his pivotal discovery about B and T cells early in his career to his rich understanding of art and human aspirations, Henry was always engaged. It was my pleasure to be his colleague on the CU Medicine faculty for more than 40 years. We will all miss his insights and friendship.

Dr. Claman was the consummate teacher, always engendering in his students a thirst for the "why". His broad-base interests served as a model for living the "full life". This was best illustrated by his desire to stimulate so many students of medicine to inculcate the humanities and arts into their education. Besides being finest of my teachers in allergy, asthma and immunology, he was the epitome of a gentleman and caring physician. I will be forever grateful to have not only known Dr. Claman but to also be able to call him my friend. The world and especially the educational world of the Colorado School of Medicine has lost one of God's special ones.
