Dear Pamela,
On behalf of our CEO, Victoria McVicker, myself and everyone at SafeHouse Denver, please accept our deepest sympathy on the death of your wonderful father. Harry supported SafeHouse Denver through his leadership of the Burt Foundation and was also a thoughtful in-kind donor. When your mom passed away, he donated her clothes to our Shelter, and I remember how important that was to him. He missed your mom dearly and I'm confident that are happily reunited.
I hope that many happy memories of your dad and the love and support of family and friends will comfort you at this very sad time.
Sincerely,
Valerie Chilewski
Chief Development Officer

I had the pleasure of working with Harry and Jean for a brief time, and I shall never forget them. Harry was the sort of lawyer that they don't make any longer. I shall miss him dearly and his stories. With fond respect and memories, Karen

I was so sorry to hear this news today over here in London and send my condolences to the family. I first had the honour of meeting Harry when he was involved in the formation of the US branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and we became firm friends as well as professional contacts, visiting each other when both were in London or Colorado. His wisdom, professionalism and friendship will be missed here in London too.

Flying West- A Poem for Pilots who've passed...
I hope there's a place, way up in the sky,
Where pilots can go, when they have to die-
A place where a guy can go and buy a cold beer
For a friend and comrade, whose memory is dear;
A place where no doctor or lawyer can tread,
Nor management type would ere be caught dead;
Just a quaint little place, kinda dark and full of smoke,
Where they like to sing loud, and love a good joke;
The kind of place where a lady could go
And feel safe and protected, by the men she would know.
There must be a place where old pilots go,
When their paining is finished, and their airspeed gets low,
Where the whiskey is old, and the women are young,
And the songs about flying and dying are sung,
Where you'd see all the fellows who'd flown west before.
And they'd call out your name, as you came through the door;
Who would buy you a drink if your thirst should be bad,
And relate to the others, "He was quite a good lad!"
And then through the mist, you'd spot an old guy
You had not seen for years, though he taught you how to fly.
He'd nod his old head, and grin ear to ear,
And say, "Welcome, my son, I'm pleased that you're here.
"For this is the place where true flyers come,
"When the journey is over, and the war has been won
"They've come here to at last to be safe and alone
From the government clerk and the management clone,
"Politicians and lawyers, the Feds and the noise
Where the hours are happy, and these good ol'boys
"Can relax with a cool one, and a well-deserved rest;
"This is Heaven, my son -- you've passed your last test!"
Fly West, Ol' Friend....We'll surely miss all of your wit, your wisdom and your mentoring mirth. Give Jean a hug from us and pass along a tummy rub to the pooches. God speed Col' Arkin..!

This post is in memory of our very good friends Harry and Jean Arkin. It's hard to remember when they first came into our lives. I do remember the many dinners we had together, our 7 adopted children crawling all over them and the chess games Harry played with our sons and the good conversations. The many times they would visit and the special times we shared together. We loved hearing their stories and spending time with them. We were very sad when we lost Jean 2 1/2 years ago and then Harry 2 days ago. When I think of their kindness and my coming in from showing property all day and Jean in the kitchen helping to prepare her own dinner that I had not had time to prepare. It makes me laugh or the bad dinners I undercooked or burn't and I have a feeling they thought I couldn't cook (far from the truth), but they were always gracious. They are friends you will never forget and memories you will tuck away and keep forever, these two are those type of memories. We loved you in life and will miss our times together. To fond memories our friends Jean and Harry we will miss you. A very special couple. I wrote this in honor of our friendship, we will miss them both very much. The Meeks Family, Palm Springs, CA

We are the Arkin family.
It is been such an honor getting to know you, Harry. In such a short time, we formed a cousin bond that is priceless. I am so thankful that I visited you this summer. We had such a grand time! So glad that you were instrumental in connecting me to Lynn. Lynn and I will be forever bonded because of you.
I am so thrilled that we were able to bond over family history, Harry. My grandfather and your cousin, Ben, was so fond of his Denver family. So thankful to have heard stories about Ben.
So glad you could now see your New York family in a positive way. As Joe, my father and your cousin, would say, "Never say good-bye. Say see you later."
Love you, my dear cousin. You are now with your beloved, Jean, holding hands and looking down with a content smile.
So long, Harry!!! I will miss our weekly phone calls.

Harry Arkin was a great American and was loved by the Denver Republican Party. Although I did not know him well, he was a stately gentleman who loved to serve his community and the great citizens of Denver County.
One of the great memories that I will cherish is the time that he wrote out the application and necessary filing at CD1 for our Colorado State Senate race.
He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family and friends of Harry Arkin. May God bless each and everyone of you and may the peace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ be real and near you all during this difficult time.
Upon behalf of our grateful Campaign,
Fighting for Faith, for Families and for Freedom!

Harry was a wonderful individual who was very caring. During our treatments he shared wonderful advice with me and was always a listening ear! Harry brought me an orchid which still sits on my window seal. I will continue to remember him every time I look at it. Rest in Peace Harry!
