Obituary of Evelyn Seidenberg

Evelyn Betty Seidenberg, maiden name Lewis, nick name "Eve", "Evelina", or "Evelynia," was born at Albany Medical Center on June 19, 1937 and died in her short-time home in Lakewood, Colorado, on September 23, 2018. She is survived by her daughter Becky Matsen, son-in-law Philip Matsen and son William Schrier; brother Martin Abbott Lewis; three grandchildren Ashley Matsen, Elizabeth Matsen and Jessica Matsen; niece Tania Lewis and nephew Robby Lewis; she is also survived by so many friends that were her family. Evelyn Seidenberg was a nurse for 50 years. She worked at the VA hospital in Albany, NY, for many years and later worked as a home health nurse in Boynton Beach, Florida. “My Mom had many hobbies: she loved to dance, play tennis and read; she enjoyed the theater and socializing with her friends. Mom was also very active in her political beliefs and would be happy to know that her whole family shares those same views. In addition to her career as a nurse, she spent time as a tutor for adults who were illiterate. My mom loved helping others and worrying about everyone else, and she would never complain or ask for any assistance. She was a strong, stubborn and beautiful woman. Mom died peacefully in her home surrounded by her entire family, even her grand-dog Jade, whom mom took on many walks over the years. Never wanting to miss out on anything fun or exciting, my mom has been visiting the Vail Valley for 20 years, playing tennis, hiking and enjoying all that the mountains have to offer. Evelyn Seidenberg was so loved and admired. She will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to embrace her presence.” Evelyn Seidenberg, Lakewood, Colorado; formerly of Albany, NY and Boynton Beach, FL; Mother of William Schrier and Becky (Phil) Matsen; Sister of Martin Lewis and the late Rita Spero; Grandmother of Ashley, Elizabeth and Jessica Matsen; Graveside Service, Sunday, 10am, Leadville Hebrew Cemetery, Leadville, CO; Contributions to Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County, www.literacypbc.org http://www.literacypbc.org.
