Obituary of Robert Silverberg
Robert A. Silverberg, Oil and gas executive, died on Thursday at the age of 83. Bob founded Silco Oil Co. in 1966 with his brother Fred, who passed away later that year leaving Bob with sole responsibility of the business. Over the years he expanded the business into service stations and convenience stores. Subsequently, he sold the business to his employees and additionally was a real estate investor and developer. Bob was born April 19, 1935 in Denver and attended Denver Public Schools, graduating from East high School. He then attended Tulane University in New Orleans and then transferred to the University of Colorado, where he graduated. Bob was active in many civic and charitable organizations: President-AMC Cancer Research Institute, President-Rose Medical Center, Chairman-Jewish Colorado, Founding Trustee-Rose Community Foundation. Also: Founding Partner-Denver Nuggets, Co-Founder-Denver Rustlers, Active-in many Petroleum Industry Groups. Bob’s parents, Jennye and Harry Silverberg, were longtime natives of Colorado. Seventeen years ago, Bob met the love of his life, Dale Merken. Together they shared a beautiful family, daughter Diane Silverberg Jarbawi, son William Silverberg, the late Robert “Robbie” Silverberg Jr., stepsons Ross and Ronnie Merken and a granddaughter who was the light of his life, Jennye Jarbawi. He also leaves a sister, Nancy Hawkins, and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Memorial Service, Sunday, 1:00pm, Temple Emanuel. In lieu of flowers, contributions to The Denver Hospice, Rose Community Foundation, or charity of your choice.
