Obituary of Phillip Abraham Nevins
Phillip Abraham Nevins (91), beloved Father of Jeff (Visalia, CA), and Kim (Denver, CO). Phil was the son of Ruben and Fanny Neviasky both of whom came over from Poland in the mid 20’s. Phil was raised in North Minneapolis where Jewish families and friends all lived within a few blocks of one another - similar to Denver’s West Side. Phil went to the University of Minnesota and served in the Coast Guard during WWII. During his early adult years, he lived in Dallas, Madison, and Phoenix before settling in the Bay area from 1965-1990. Phil then moved to the newly built Sun City Summerlin in Las Vegas to enjoy his “golden years” – and that he did. He golfed, bowled (up until this past January), was a founding member of 2 Synagogues (Temple Bet Knesset Bamidbar and Temple Bet Emet) and was very involved with the Jewish War Veterans Post 64. Phil was outgoing, friendly, had a joyful spirit and loved dogs. He will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Erik Bromley (Denver, CO), Alan Nevins (Portland, OR) and Heather Nevins (Ames, IA). sister Marcella Kahn (Del Ray Beach, FL), her children Randy, Leslie Sanders and Tracy Spalter, and Denver cousins Stephanie Shuldberg Opie and Allyson Shuldberg, children of his beloved cousin the late Dr. Arthur Shuldberg, and his childhood friends Dianne Kirkpatrick and Phyllis Shuldberg Johnson also of Denver and Herman Markowitz of Minneapolis. Funeral Services Monday October 15th Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, NV.
