If I know nothing at all, I do know this. Jennifer “Lolli” Hughes was a person who brought laughter and loving support to so many. She was filled with a life light that was contagiously bright and she was unafraid to shine it on everyone. I know we all have many wonderful memories we can reflect fondly on and keep her light bright. As well as being thankful that she was a part of our world and touched our lives. It brings me relief to know she is no longer suffering and that she is reunited with her beloved son Dylan. My deepest condolences and love to all the Calisher’s. God’s grace shine upon you Lolli and thank you for being my dearest friend!

Jennifer was an amazing human being! I never had the pleasure of meeting her, but I do know her brother Dan. She accomplished so much as a Notre Dame graduate at 20! She must have been an amazing teacher.
I wanted to give your family my deepest condolences. May her light shine on forever through her students, family, and friends.

I had the privilege of teaching with Jennifer in Fifth Grade at Short Elementary in Arlington, Texas. Her son, Dylan, babysat my two boys when I first started teaching at Short. Jennifer always knew what to say in every situation and she thought of it very quickly. She made us laugh all the time, which made life at school much more enjoyable. I can still see her sitting in her director's chair teaching an amazing English lesson or a Latin lesson to her GT students. She made a difference for all of her students because she wanted them to learn and be successful in life. I learned so much from her about teaching and how to take everything in stride. Jennifer and Dylan will always be in my heart! Jennifer's family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Hughes was my english teacher in 8th grade. I'll never forget how much she cared about me and my education. Even though I was wrapped up in becoming a rebellious young teen, she never stopped believing in me and encouraging me to be a better student.
She was always praising my work until one time I turned in a very poor assignment. She spoke to me in private and didn't hold back to tell me that I had done a bad job on the assignment. Hearing that she was disappointed in my work made me want to try harder next time. I respected her so much that I desired to please her by doing well in class. That is a sign of a great teacher. I felt very close to her during 8th grade and will always hold pleasant memories of how she gave me confidence in English class.

Well lady what can I say? All the good times we shared. 2 peas in a pod. There is a major list of those times, but no need to write them down as you were there and know all to well.
Thank you for being my teammate, co board of trustee, best friend, and partner in crime. There will be a huge void in my life now that you are gone. Tears shed, heart broken, but I know you are finally out of pain.
You are also reunited with your son Dylan. The heartache you have lived with since his passing took a major toll on your life and health. The loss of love from your daughter didn't help either. You were never the same afterwards.
Now I can imagine the two of you catching up, listening to music, and sharing the love of the Phoenix bird. Unfortunately, you both can't watch your fav show, the Walking Dead together in heaven, but hey, maybe you can! :) Who knows? I hope you can enjoy your favorite foods again and have as much salt as possible...lol
On to the next chapter on your journey.
Please come visit me when you can as we both know those lost are always around. Now instead of me calling on the phone to share our sagas, you can see exactly what is going on. Take care my dear, dear friend, you will always be part of my heart. I will miss you terribly.

Oh, Lolli. I will miss you so much even if you were a pain in the ass. I enjoyed our time doing People magazine crossword puzzles, watching football games or catching up on Top Chef back in the day. I can’t believe you made us take you to Aquaman. Says a lot about you. You will always be a part of my life, no matter where you are. I guess I’m going to have to learn to make my own scotch eggs. Won’t be as good as yours, but I gotta try. I love you!

I worked with Lolli at Cresthill M.S. for the years she was teaching there. We went through a lot together and she was my friend. We lost touch over the last few years, but I always followed her on social media and she was always surrounded by friends and family and lots of love. Sending you my deepest condolences, Emily Fields

My thoughts and prayers are with Jennifer’s family. I have some wonderful memories of our many years together as colleagues at Short ES. Even though we were at opposite ends of the building we all made the time to support each other and our students. TOY Roasts were the best! Jennifer’s personality was bigger than life and she will truly be missed.

My deepest sympathies to Jennifer’s family. I taught fifth grade at Short with Jennifer for several years. In addition to so many students’ lives, she also enhanced mine. I learned through her example and many a in depth conversation. As I continue to teach, Jennifer’s voice, stories, laughter and humor, have stuck with me. Jennifer genuinely loved people. She cared for those with troubles and uplifted those cast aside or overlooked. She will be missed.

Wow! What a precious person. The best way to describe a person is through his/her actions. Well, Jennifer had LOTS of actions. The one that she and I continued to talk about occurred in 2000. I had been assigned as principal of Short Elementary and as Christmas approached, I had the "bright" idea of sending out picture Christmas cards to the administrative staff in Arlington ISD. Everyone was assembled in their Christmas colors and/or Christmas sweaters. But, Jennifer was missing. Finally, she made her grand entrance wearing a black robe with a cardboard Menorah around her neck. We loved it! I always told Jennifer that it was an unexpected picture of diversity. That is the Jennifer I will always remember and keep in my heart.

Lolli was a special part of Cresthill Middle School. Anyone who worked with her remembers her smile, humor, and penchant for making breakfast burritos! She made hundreds for various fundraisers and for staff treats. She had an awesome connection with kids, especially those in her home room. I will be thinking of her and her family who misses her in the weeks to come.

My deepest condolences to the family. Jennifer was an educator extraordinaire. My children were amongst the many students to be taught by the exceptional staff at Short Elementary of which Jennifer was a part of. She gave everything she had to enhance the learning experience for so many students. Her sense of humor, her laugh, her desire to reach kids.....this is how I will remember her. May you feel the prayers of so many who are praying for your comfort.
