Dear Jan and Family,
Please accept our deepest sorrow for the loss of your beloved Risa. We never had a meeting where
her presence and love in your life wasn't obvious. There cannot be a greater sadness than the loss
of your life-long partner and strength. So sorry for you, my friend.

To Jan and the entire Buckstein Family,
Baruch Dayan Ha’Emet. I’m so sorry to hear the sad news about your mother. Ira Miller, a Madrich on IST in 1999 (and other years) just let me know.
I want to send my best wishes of love and much Nechama. I loved and respected Risa, Z”L. The work that we did together is some of the greatest work I’ve done in my life. I have missed her dearly since we stopped working together and made a point of looking her up every time I came to Denver, which, unfortunately, has become less and less frequent.
May you and the family know much nechama from a woman who had incredible values, personal warmth, humor, vision, talent and commitment. I will sorely miss her.
המקום ינחם אותכם בתוך שאר אבלי ציון וירושלים.

I feel terrible pain at this loss. I had the absolute pleasure of working with Risa for 6 years at CAJE, but our friendship continued long after that. She was just a joy to work with. She mentored me. She made me laugh (she could be very, very silly). She made me think. Almost 20 years since I first started working with Risa I'm in the same line of work that she inspired me to continue so long ago. And not only that, even though my family and I moved to Israel 7 years ago, a picture of her has been on the desk of every place I have worked since we left Denver. I loved her. She was one of the finest professionals and people I have ever known.

I have such positive memories of Risa. I first became close with her when she organized and came on my IST trip that deeply influenced how I live my life today. She was always so supportive of me and made me a bridal shower on Pesach! (Not an easy task!) She made a profound difference in the Jewish community and in the lives of so many, myself and my family included. May her memory be a blessing and may G-d comfort her family.

Truly heartbroken...Risa was a teacher, mentor and friend - a safety net at critical times in my life. Risa was a determining factor in me committing my life to Jewish Education. May God bring her family much strength and may we as a Denver community remember Risa of her care, compassion and ever-present smile. Risa's memory will always be a blessing.

Dear Buckstein family.
I was so sad to hear the sad sad news of Risa’s Departure from this world way too soon.
I got to know her when I was a counselor on the IST program for 4 years. Riss was devoted to the Colorado Jewish community. It was so important to her to make sure all of those wonderful young adults get the most meaningful experience. As an Israeli staff member,I always felt Risa was an inspiring model. She knew how to make her point on what is important, yet discuss every detail with an open mind and so much respect to all people no matter if they are younger, older, CAJE staff or Israeli’s she was just acquainted with.
I will always remember her with a smile, always finding the positive, always empowering.
I am sure she made a tremendous effect on the community and will be missed by many.
May G-D send you condolences

I remember the big smile of risa when she meet us at the airport on the winter of 1999 when we came for the first reunion of IST in Denver.... Years later we worked to get her when I was a shalich in Denver.
