Obituary of Bruce Routman

Bruce Alan Routman, Real Estate Broker, passed away on January 12, 2019 after battling cancer for only 4 months.  His family and friends were able to spend time with him during his last days.

Bruce was an avid and excellent golfer and skier.  He was a National Merit Scholarship finalist at Ladue Horton Watkins High School, in St. Louis MO, before getting a full scholarship to Dartmouth University.   He graduated in 1972 from Dartmouth before eventually moving to Japan.  He married in Japan and moved to Denver where his two children were born, and started a travel agency.  He and the family returned to Japan after a few years and he traveled all over East Asia doing sales work.  He was fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Japanese.  After a divorce, he returned to Oklahoma City where he earned an MBA and managed his family’s many Weight Watchers franchises and eventually was able to bring his children to live with him.  Upon the sale of the business, Bruce moved to Buena Vista, CO where he became a general contractor and realtor, building and selling luxury homes.  He met his current wife, Kris, and eventually moved to Colorado Springs to pursue an independent Real Estate business, Columbia Properties, specifically helping military families who were moving to the area.

Bruce’s outgoing personality, love of the outdoors, and entrepreneurial nature served him well.  He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Kristen (Kris) Babcock; mother, Jean Chuver Routman of Oklahoma City; siblings Beth (Routman) Perry and Keith Routman; children Nicole (Nikki) Routman Ebisu (Darren Ebisu) and Daniel Routman; and grandchildren Benjamin (Ben) Howard Routman, Naomi Pearl Routman, Andrew Ichiro Ebisu , and Madeline(Maddie) Haruka Ebisu, and nephews Gene, Jacob, Nathan, and Samuel Perry, and his ex-wife Yoshiko Ishida.  He was preceded in death by his father, Milford Norman Routman, and his much loved and adored grandfather, Lou (Zazy) Chuver.
