Obituary of Miriam Slosky
It is with great sadness, yet profound gratitude for a life well lived and shared, that the family of Miriam Slosky announce her peaceful passing on October 5, 2019, at the age of 95 years. She will be forever remembered and loved by her children David (Anne), Karen (Paul), and Mark, her grandchildren Laura, Matthew (Katie) and Ryan Slosky, Carolyn Mindich Hoffman (Eric) and great-grandchildren Jackson Slosky and Benjamin Hoffman. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Ben, to whom she was married for 50 years, and her mother Carolyn Rosenbloom.
Miriam “Mimi” was born on December 29, 1923, in Glencoe, Illinois. She attended the University of Illinois, University of Colorado and Colorado College, attaining a psychology degree from Colorado College. During WW II, she was a volunteer counselor at Fort Carson Army Mental Health Center. After the war, she taught elementary school in Denver, and ultimately did counseling at the East Side Mental Health Center, also in Denver. She was loyal and devoted to her mother, husband, children and friends. Mimi was a woman of conviction. She was well-read and loved movies. She had a keen interest in politics. She was always a compassionate and good friend.
Graveside services will be held at Congregation Emanuel Cemetery within the grounds of Fairmount Cemetery in Denver on Friday, October 11 at noon. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Friends Foundation at the Denver Public Library or your charity of choice in Mimi’s honor.
