Best friends forever. Brother to Marsha B. and cousin to Marsha A. That's me in the back row left and Stevie at center left. Friendship almost ended when his Mom found out he was eating rabbit at my house. Gave me my first cigarette and my first kiss. Almost drown me once at Amston Lake. Through it all we survived. We went separate ways but always kept in touch. There is a life time of stories and fun and friendship. Life well lived Lt. Col. Turshen. Proud to have known you, happy to have been a part of your life. You will stay in my heart forever. My deepest sympathy to the family.

The picture with this post was taken sometime early in 1980 at "Rat's Alley" in Nashville, Tennessee, where Steve, whom we all called the "Major" shared a home with cousins John and Bob Holladay. The picture is of Steve and John's sister, Kathy, who passed away several years ago. All of the Holladays, including our parents, considered "The Major" a fine individual, brave, and stalwart. Over the years, we lost touch, but we shall never forget him.

I so enjoyed the time that I was fortunate enough to know Steve. He was warm, funny and passionate about life. Steve loved his two grandchildren, Clara and Jake, so deeply and valued all the time he was able to spend with them. It was also evident to me how much he loved his two daughters, Katy and Rebekah. He will truly be missed...

Steve was a dear part of our family. He was always at our gatherings. I remember spending time with him and having a ball playing with Becky and Katie. As a young adult, I loved getting in a corner with him at our gatherings and having interesting and diverse conversations. I ALWAYS requested he bring his crab dip! I am truly sorry for your loss. When I think of our loved ones that have fallen asleep in death, I am comforted by the thoughts of Job expressed in the holy scriptures, which state, “ If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service until my relief comes. You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands.“ (Job 14:14,15) May this hope of life again bring you comfort.
