Obituary of Robert Abelman

Robert “Bob” Abelman, Englewood; Father of Molly (Chris) Davis, Sarah (James) Miller and Chloe Abelman; Grandfather of Olivia and Charlotte; Brother of Allan Abelman; Former husband of Laurie Abelman; Private family graveside service; Contributions to charity of choice. Robert Abelman was born on March 29, 1948 in Passaic, New Jersey to Max and Evelyn Abelman. Two years later, his younger brother Allan was born. Soon after, the family relocated to Denver, Colorado, where Bob remained for the rest of his life. Bob attended Stephen Knight Elementary School, Merrill Junior High School, and graduated from South High School in 1966. During his school years, Bob had many scholastic and athletic achievements. He was student council president and debate team captain and received a letter jacket and the title of “All-City Sprinter” and “Fastest Runner at South” at the time. He graduated from Harvard University with his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics in 1970, and then attended the University of Colorado for his law degree. Bob ran his successful Abelman Law Firm in Denver for 40 years. He retired just last month and had been eagerly anticipating relaxing and enjoying the next stage of his life. Bob was the ultimate family man. He deeply loved his “miracle babies” and grandchildren, and sincerely cared about his cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He never forgot a birthday or anniversary and was happiest when celebrating the triumphs of those around him. Bob’s love of family extended into his passion for genealogy. For the last twenty years of his life, Bob researched hundreds of ancestors to compile a multi-generational family tree for himself and his daughters. He reached out to extended family around the world and became a resource for so many others who utilized his expertise to conduct research of their own. Bob was a selfless man, who did all he could to support those closest to him. He will be missed terribly, but his memory and the stories he told will live on in those who loved him. site
