Obituary of Eugene Eisen
Eugene (Gene) Eisen was born January 3, 1927, to Joseph and Clara Eisen on Denver’s West side. His older siblings were Irving and Marian. Gene passed away on April 23, 2020, at age 93. A graveside service was held at Rose Hill Cemetery officiated by Rabbi Rick Rheins and arranged by Feldman Mortuary.
After graduating from West High School, Gene attended Denver University and worked at Lowry Field repairing airplanes. In 1949, he married Helen Tempelhof and joined his father-in-law, Hil Tempelhof, a custom tailor, in his men’s shop in Aurora. Clothing was a familiar business for Gene since his father Joe was a tailor for 45 years. Gene went on to work at the May Company and then for 10 years at the Englewood Men’s Store. In 1964, Gene opened Man’s World, a ready-to-wear retail store in Littleton. He moved his store's location five times and was savvy enough to specialize in short and stout men’s wear to remain competitive in a tough market. His knowledge and his outgoing personality kept him in business for over 40 years.
Gene and Helen raised four wonderful daughters and lived in the Hilltop neighborhood for over 60 years. They were avid travelers and golfers. Gene was also a dedicated Broncos fan and was known for his many sayings and funny comments. He adored his family and often expressed how his life was a blessing. Gene and Helen celebrated 70 years of marriage in June of 2019.
Eugene Eisen is survived by his wife Helen, and children Carrie (Alec) Rosenfeld, Penny (Perry) Nisson, Jodi (Andy) Hesch, and Lori (Baruch) Eisen. Grandchildren are Aaron (Ashley) Minard, Rachel Rosenfeld, Lee (Rachel) Nisson, Sam Hesch, David and Nathaniel Goldstein, Liza (Brian) Cohen. Great-grandchildren are Carter and Lucas Minard and Jessica and Steven Silvers. Contributions may be made to Hadassah Denver Chapter or Temple Sinai.
