I just found out that Dr. Gottesfeld passed away. He literally saved my life during the delivery of my son back in 1993. I had complications during delivery and he came into the operating room to assist my physician. A wonderful man, doctor and philanthropist!

Dr. Gottesfeld delivered me, and was my pediatrician. I was pretty upset when I had to go to a grown up doctor! ❤️ He is forever my favorite doctor EVER. I am thinking of you all, and you are so blessed to have him in your lives. He will remain a light in your lives. Love to all

I just learned of Stuart’’s passing. We were alphabetically adjacent throughout medical school and were in most labs and Te clinical services together. Though we never associated professionally, we saw each other every five years as we gathered for class reunions. I know he will be remembered with great respect for him as both a person and as a physician.

Dr. Stuart delivered my youngest son and he was kind, calm and reassuring. There are few people that leave a strong impression, but he was one and memories of him are fond. I remember his duck quacking and it still makes me smile. I was deeply saddened to learn of his passing, but I also feel that my life was enhanced knowing him. My condolences to his family for the loss of this wonderful, great man.

My heartfelt condolences go out today to everyone who loved Stuart Gottesfeld. I and my younger brother, Patrick, were both delivered at Rose Hospital by Dr. Ray Gottesfeld, Stuart's father. My mother loved both of these men and I was provided with outstanding care in Stuart's clinic once I became an adult. I have made a donation to Planned Parenthood in honor and memory of both men.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Stu's passing. I it through his large family tree I stumbled upon about 15 years ago that I connected with family I even knew about. I enjoyed sharing genealogy with Dr. Stu and extending the tree. He would send me the annual family portraits each year. I will miss him.

Very saddened to hear of Dr. Gottesfeld's passing. My condolences go out to his family. Many years ago when I had an emergency, I was taken to Rose Medical Center where I met Dr. Gottesfeld who came to see me in the ER, and ultimately because of his expertise and wherewithal to collaborate with other specialists, he saved my life. He had a great and gentle demeanor and truly had a passion for taking care of his patients. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to the Gottesfeld family. As a resident, I had the great privilege of Stuart's tutelage. Teaching truly was his passion. From the 7 a.m. meetings in the Rose Clinic to the all-day Saturday surgeries, he touched the lives of countless residents and medical students. I remember when confronted with difficult clinical situations asking myself "...what would Stuart do?..." A little bit of Stuart lives on in all us. And, of course, we can't forget that handwriting!! Stuart Gottesfeld was one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed. We have lost a special teacher.

“Dr. Stuart” delivered my first two children, Daniel and Hannah. They, too, heard his Donald Duck voice immediately after birth; I appreciate someone reminding me of that here. I knew I could trust him unconditionally. I love you, Dr. Stuart! My heartfelt condolences to your family and colleagues. May his memory be a blessing.

I revered Stuart Gottesfeld as the ultimate physician. Stuart could always be counted on whenever I became ill, even with a sore throat! After he retired, I could still call him for advice. His "Donald Duck" voice was the first thing my boys heard at birth. I loved him for his kindness, wisdom and compassion. The world has lost a most special human being. Condolences to alll the family.

“Best doctor” is a phrase used way too often. Stuart Gottesfeld, however, was genuinely the best! Superior surgeon, dedicated obstetrician and mentor to hundreds of ob/gyns. If that weren’t enough, Stuart was a cherished colleague and friend to so many of us at Rose. Stuart and Ken truly founded the preeminent Rose ob/gyn program. We will miss him dearly.

I am so saddened by the news of Stuart's passing.
My then-fiancee and I attended a lecture/seminar with Stuart, when we were engaged, and he immediately became "our" OBGYN. Kenneth delivered our daughter, as he was on call. Stuart delivered our son, who, at (almost) 46, still turns, automatically, when he hears ducks quacking, because the first thing he heard was Stuart imitating Donald Duck.
Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.

I learned tonight of the passing of Dr. Stuart Gottesfeld
I’m remembering that the first cesarean section I ever did as an intern in obstetrics and gynecology was with Dr. Gottesfeld. He had this incredible talent for throwing his voice like a ventriloquist. I was certain the newborn coming out said “mama,” until everyone laughed at my amazement and I realized he had said it. He made it a joyous moment in the room.
.
I am thinking about the many, many afternoons spent with Dr. Gottesfeld and fellow residents discussing cases, anomalies, pathology, surgical tricks. It is one of my most memorable times of residency in the physicians’ lounge at Rose Hospital in Denver in the late 90s.
.
I am remembering learning from him how to get a large (500g) uterus out on a vaginal hysterectomy and how to bivalve the uterus. (I still think of him and my Chief Resident at the time, Maura Lofarro, whenever I do a vaginal hysterectomy).
.
I want to extend my sincere regards to the Gottesfeld family at this time. May you treasure your memories of this great teacher.
Shanti Mohling, MD
