Obituary of Derek Rudawsky

Derek Rudawsky lost his courageous, 25 year battle with Dravet Syndrome on June 20. Derek impacted the lives of everyone he encountered. He will be remembered for his warmth and humanity. He was quick to smile and hug. His family will miss him tremendously. For years, Derek was the namesake of an annual charity run to bring awareness to Dravet Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy. The money raised helped fund research and seek treatments to fight this horrible disease. Derek’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to all of the health-care professionals for their care, commitment and compassion shown to Derek over his lifetime. Derek is survived by his parents, Staci and Zvi; sister and brother-in-law, Alyssa and Josh; grandparents, Mort and Jo Sperling, and Oded Rudawsky; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Yedida Rudawsky. Private graveside service, 10am, Monday 6/22. Public livestream available on Zoom.
