I was a member of Cantor Weiss' choir at Ahavath Israel of West Oak Lane when I was in high school. He assisted my father, Rabbi William Eisenberg, with the music program at the Ivy Ridge Jewish Community Center. I have kept in touch with him over the years and just recently learned of his passing. May his memory be a blessing. Sorry for your loss. Burton Eisenberg Ten South Avenue Wyncote, PA 19095-1320 215-572-7712

Oh so many memories of the time I spent with Cantor and Roz—really my second family at an important time in my life. I remember taking a trip east for a month or so with the Weiss family. So many holidays together and the only babysitting job I ever had. Cher and Karen were like my own sisters.
There was a long-running battle about who was the toughest Bar Mitzvah student—my brother David or David’s son Ruben. How many Chazzans teach multi-generations of students?
Such a great loss for you Karen and Cher and for our community. My thoughts are with you
May his memory be for a blessing.

We now live in the world where passing is okay if you get 70% you can move on to the next srep. That was not the case with Cantor Weiss .The 12 year old boy I,me.struggled with him and sometimes afraid of him .I had to learn to become accurate! It was such an important lesson that I now appreciate more than I did at the time. The Torah has a secret for all of us in the trop and in the leining. it has a message of the potential of perfection and accuracy I now hear my grandchildren struggling with their Parsha or an assignment to read a certain portion of the Torah or haftorah for a particular week and they repeat it over and over again and they get it accurately
And U kvell. iIt was the message that I got from Cantor Weiss which has carried me through a lot of different situations. You know when you attain accuracy and as I do surgery or medicine I get that feeling that I've gotten something exactly correct, and it's a powerful sense of Internal satisfaction. We've just gone through a month of holidays and many of the tunes I sing to myself ,because in my communities they have other tunes are the tunes Cantor Weiss .My grandchildren in two continents sing his Schechechyanu, because I taught it to them,as Canto Weiss taught me.
We've just gone through the month of fall holidays and many of the tunes I sing to myself are the tunes of Cantor Weiss and his choir and they bring back fond memories .I remember him as a young man with his young family and the beth Joseph shabbos ommunity .It is pleasantly nostalgic for me I'm sure his memory will be a blessing to all of those that he taught as well as his family and friends

We are sending heartfelt condolences to you Karen and Sher. We remember so many wonderful times with both Moishe and Roz. We enjoyed the warmth of Shabbat dinners at their home, with open arms to us as well as so many others. We had many laughs as we shared times together with Arnold and at The Boutique Judaica. We could tell story after story about the many times a week they came into The Bagel Store, always with patience, a kind word, a funny story and a big hug. We will remember you always, Moishe and Roz, with joy in our hearts and a smile on all our faces. With Love, Lynn and John Hill

It was a זכות גדולה to have known and learned from R’ Weiss and his family. R’ Weiss was a premier example of אהבת ישראל. He exemplified love and hospitality not just for fellow Jews but indeed love for everyone he encountered, the love which ה׳ has for everyone and everything. His אמונה פשוטה in בורא העולם which radiated out from his being brought blessings to all who knew him. He would always relate with tears of gratitude of how he once consulted with the Satmar Rebbe, Yoel Teitalbaum, זת״ל, who told him with deep conviction that a certain difficulty he was going through would prove to be the greatest ברכה from Hashem. He always lived like that, knowing that everything that came from Hashem is aברכה and he made everyone else feel that they too were a ברכה. We were amazed at how he accepted everything from Hashem, both the pleasant and difficult, with אהבה and הכרות הטוב. R’ Weiss will be greatly missed. The פירות which he created we still partake of but now he partakes of הקרן שקיימת לו בעולמו – בעולם הבא

Chazan Weiss and Roz were dear people. In their many years together at Beth Joseph, my father, Rabbi Daniel Goldberger a"h, and the Chazan were a beautiful team of spiritual vibrancy and involvement for so many. I'll always remember the Bar Mitzvah lessons, singing in the choir, and the Chazzan's beautiful niggunim and melodies in shul. He was a mentsch, he had a beautiful voice, and we still sing some of his melodies. We always enjoyed seeing him on our many visits to Denver over the years. To Karen and Cheryl, may Hashem grant strength and comfort to you and your families My mother sends her love and her very best. We remember you so well. May his soul be bound up in the bond of life. My sincere condolences to Cantor Weiss's family.
While I have a lot of memories of him from my childhood, my most significant abiding connection with him goes back 29 years, to the summer of 1992, when the man who had been Shaliach Tzibur for Yom Kippur Shacharit in our shul in Cleveland, Ohio for many years left the congregation, and I was asked to take his place. My predecessor made a tape for me, with nusach I didn't particularly like, so I called Cantor Weiss and told him about it. He made a tape and sent it to me, I learned it and reviewed it with him by telephone once or twice, and I led Shacharit for the first time that Yom Kippur, 1992. I just finished leading it this year for the 29th time, and our congregation has adopted much of "his" nusach that I introduced that year, with other leaders incorporating parts of it into Yom Kippur Mincha and Rosh HaShanah Shacharit. I think fondly of him every year and am grateful to him for that wonderful gift.
May he rest in peace.

Our condolences and love go out to the family on the sad news of Moishe’s passing. He was a real “mensch” and the very definition of selflessness, fortitude and innate goodness. We know that Zayde had a special place in his heart for his granddaughters Natalie & Dayna and will continue to smile on them from above. We always looked forward to his visits to Great Neck and have fond memories with him, Rozie & Cher. May he be at peace and his memory forever be a blessing. The Shapero Family will always remember fondly and with love the Passover sedars we were lucky enough to share with the Weiss/Weinberg families where Cantor Weiss sat at the head of the table and lead us through the night with stories, prayer and song. Those nights were filled with wonderful food, lively conversation and love. Cantor Weiss was not only warm and funny but bright and delightful to be around. His love of family and religion was beyond words. Our sincerest sympathies go out to the entire family.May his Nashama have an aliyah - BDE - Lori, Murry, Allison & Avi, Danielle & Jonathan

I can still recall Cantor Weiss teaching me my Torah portion for my Bar-Mitzvah over 61 years ago. He was patient and concerned with my feeling it, and getting it right. He assisted me in focusing on the task at hand, and helping me realize that the hard work would pay off. It did and it's a lesson I still remember. He will be missed and remembered.

Cantor Weiss will always have a place in my heart. I enjoyed his presence in the back of the room during services at Shalom Park on Saturday mornings, wondering if he was listening to men sermons as he davened! I spoke to him once after I left the facility and he mentioned to me how much he missed learning from me! To me, this is a rav who embraced the full meaning of the phrase from the Book of Psalms, "Mi-kol milamdei hiskalti ~ From all of my students I gained in wisdom!" I, too, learned from his wisdom!

To me, there was never a Cantor in Denver like Cantor Weiss.
I loved his voice.....beyond any words I could express. He taught me to sing
Kiddush for my Bat Mitzvah.....and he helped me to sing many Hebrew
prayers and melodies for my entire life.
He and Rabbi Goldberger had the greatest influence in my life, besides parents
and family,, to believe and feel Judaism in my heart and soul.
I will pray for him and to him in Heaven. I believe he is singing with the Angels.
Miss You and Love You, dear Cantor Weiss.
