this photo was taken on Morey's birthday in 2018 at Joes crab shack....He and my mom's birthdays were a week apart so they always celebrated together....some very fond memories....like my brother...lots of memories of thanksgiving or passover at their house..still remember the brisket...the best... recently my wife and i were honored with the privilege of spending quality time with Morey, whether birthday, thanksgiving or just a dinner out...he always had good stories to share of the extended family history....we will miss that.
Our deepest condolences to all of his family and friends....may the good memories give you comfort to overshadow the grief of loss

I remember Morey and Shirley Melnick with love. They and my parents, Jack Hartman and Marjie Hartman, were lifelong friends. Morey loved to tease me gently when I was young. After I was married, knowing that I had not taken my husband's name, Morey began calling me "Mrs. Stein." I addressed him as "Mr. Bernstein" and we laughed at our joke the last time I spoke with him. May his memory be for a blessing.

Memories of family passovers and thanksgiving at the Melnicks home...oh boy! Good thing Joel, Richard and Michael let Morey and Shirley do the cooking, those kids were never the best cooks on our boy scout campouts! But Morey always had a great and funny wit ...and he was always kind about sharing his wisdom to the Pooley cousins....he will be missed, and so will those almost endless chants of Dayenu after the seder....he lived a great and long life with a loving family that will continue his legacy!

I met Morey when I married into the Pooley family. For the last 15+ years Shirley and Morey (and their family) have been a wonderful part of my life. I think he enjoyed me needling him as much as I enjoyed him razzing me. We enjoyed so many wonderful hours together; dinners out; family Thanksgiving dinners at home; drives in the mountains. I remember fondly the time we took off into the mountains to give Marilyn's jaguar one last spin. - a day Doug, Morey and I all enjoyed so well. I shall miss my pal. My mother, Irene also extends her condolences. She, too, will miss the times she enjoyed with Morey.
Our condolences to the whole family. While we missed seeing Morey these past few months, I'm so very grateful he was able to spend them around his family. I know those must have been special times for you all.

I remember when Morey took this picture. He’s been a part of my life even before he and Shirley got married. I don’t think he knew I was part of the package when he and Shirley married. I even lived with them for a time when Sol and Julia went to Arizona and I went to high school in Denver. He was always more than a brother-in-law to me. After Shirley died, I called him frequently. He always had stories to tell. I felt he was my last link to my immediate family.
I will forever be grateful for the love and care he gave to my Mother after she moved to Denver. Shirley had a long illness and Morey was devoted to her care. He actually put his life on hold to be there for her. Sadly there was no cure for her in spite of everything he tried to do to help her. After she died he took a number of trips and we actually met him in Miami on his way to Cuba at ninety years of age.
When my Mother died, the Rabbi in Denver told me I was now an orphan. He was wrong. Last Friday I became an orphan.

Morey had a great sense of humor. We would come by to order invites from Shirley, and Morey, when there was so much fun. He was very sharp and had quick wit! He always brought a smile to our hearts. Our family send our deepest condolences. Our, best, Michelle R. Zelinger.

Our friendship with Morey and Shirley Melnick goes back to the year when we were newlyweds and lived in the same apartment building. We formed an instant bond with them from bridge playing to devouring an entire ice cream pie in one sitting! We watched our children grow up and shared the good and the bad events.
We were even able to attend the Berkshire Hathaway meeting together in Omaha.
We took care of Joel and Michele and Sam, at Creighton and they took care of Marti at Boulder.
We will miss both of them now. May Morey's memory be for a blessing.
