My condolences to Carol's family, and friends. Carol was one of my three apartment mates, all of them I was lucky to know when we were attending CU. She was smart and kind, and it was a blessing to have her as a friend for a couple of years. She went on to Emory and we lost touch.
I am very sorry that she is gone, but definitely not forgotten and very much part of my memories of the time we lived together.
Best regards,
Shelley Cox-Diegel

I am so very sad to learn about Carol’s death. I met Carol about 16 years ago when we were both taking classes and practicing glass fusing. We were both there almost every week and got to know each other, chatting about everything from family to politics. Carol was one of the smartest people I have known, with a wide range of interests and curiosity. After the glass studio closed, we took a woodworking class, a felting class and had been taking silversmithing classes together for more than a year.
It was a gift to have known Carol and she is gone too soon. My thoughts are with her family who, I know from Carol’s stories, she loved very much. I will miss her.

There are not enough words for us to honor Carol and what she meant to the Schmergel family. In addition to being an unofficial member of our family, she was the dearest of friends, the smartest and most invested colleague, the most passionate and enthusiastic cheerleader, an amazing and insightful counselor, an incredible mentor... her attributes could consume this entire site. We all loved Carol and her indomitable spirit so dearly, and will forever miss her. Our deepest sympathy and condolences to all of the Raznick family (whom she cherished and adored unabashedly).
With much love, Paul, Jenee, Graham, Chloe, Alec, Olivia and Tate
