My Aunt Mary and I had a special relationship. Over the years I used to fly to Hawaii and escape into paradise. I would go and spend one week two weeks or three weeks with her. She immersed me in the island life and all of her friends,... we would go to farmers markets , come home and cook the most amazing beautiful fresh food ... so many of my memories of aunt Mary are surrounded around food. Her love of food and cooking in deep rooted in the Grandinetti’s. She always told me that I cooked like grandpa. I always thought that was such a great complement and I’ll never forget her telling me that regularly.
She loved clothes. Like any woman. And had the most gorgeous shoes and the most beautiful feet. Sometimes at night we would dress up in her clothes and shoes and do a little modeling around the apartment listening to music. We just had a lot of fun together. In the evenings we would get all dressed up and go to the beautiful resorts and it was such a luxurious experience every time. I always felt so special with her.
Her joy, her way of giving attention, listening, and her laughter. She was always a good friend and Auntie to me.
We shared so much in common from exercise and health and wellness to spirituality. She introduced me to the science of mind and A broader way of thinking about God.
Her memory lives in me and will always be a part of my soul and our family. I am so grateful that my son Joseph has memories of our annual family reunions in Arizona. ..and my darling partner Lou knows my precious family, so that we can all continue to LIVE on in memories and stories about our roots.
My hope is that we all find comfort and peace as we are blessed with memories of those who blessed our lives with goodness and love.
Love
Heidi Marie Grandinetti

I lost a friend yesterday,
We lost a friend yesterday.
A woman of talent, of heart, of joy,
A mother, a cook, a business woman and a friend.
We lost a wonderful friend yesterday,
But she now has wings to fly clear and bright.
To see without veils, without illness, to see clearly,
All that which we may not yet see.
Our lovely Mary,
Who's laugh could stop a room, sending it into silence,
Others would be awed, we would be honored,
To be with a woman of such explosive joy
who honored family, friendship and love above all.
Who could light up the darkness with her smile,
and a heart that touched so many.
Yes, we lost a friend yesterday,
But we have memories, we have such good memories,
of our little Italian who shared so many years of our lives.
We are Blessed and so is she,
Be free, Lovely Mary, your deserve to soar the ether's and
Let all those who were lucky enough to have known and loved you,
breathe their love and light to you, on your new journey of love.
You will be missed,
But you will be honored more.
You will be remembered ,
with such gratitude and love.
You are now free to Be .... Enjoy.

Mary never knew a stranger and was the "Sarah Lee" of people where "Everybody doesn't like something but nobody didn't love Mary." Her beacon light of love shall endure.

Mary was our next-door neighbor in our condo complex in Kona for close to 15 years. She was always full of vim & vigor & had a loud, infectious laugh that rang through our entire building! When all the windows & sliding glass doors to the lanais were open, which was most of the time because of the delightful Kona weather, we would smile to ourselves as we heard peals of laughter wafting through the air whenever Mary was on the phone!
We will treasure our memories together - watching one of the many small downtown Kona parades, watching the Ironman, enjoying the delicious dinners Mary would so enthusiastically prepare for us, making pasta, one-time paddle-boarding until one of us fell off & cracked a couple of ribs, Trick-or-Treating in costume around the condo complex on Halloween ... Then there was the time she waved to us, as we pulled up alongside of her at a stoplight, Mary sitting on the back of a Harley, looking just like a biker chic, right down to the bandana tied around her head! And she thoroughly enjoyed the picture of her with Dolly Parton's boobs that we put on her real estate card that said, "Paradise is waiting for you ... let me lead the way!" Although she denied it, she enjoyed it even more when we enlarged the card & taped it to the condo-community mailboxes! BTW, she really did look great!
We can still see Mary running (for Mary never did walk) over from her condo next door, calling out, "Hey Barb/Russ" before she even got to the door. For all these memories & more, Mary will always have a special place in our hearts. Aloha Mary!

My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Mary. I too called her a friend. We spent our 1st Thanksgiving together in Kona, Hawaii at my home in 1990. We were close friends ever since then. Her beautiful smile and her wonderful laughter will continue to live on in my thoughts and memories of her.

I have known Mary for years on the Big Island. What a special friend! I was privileged to sell her the condo home in Kona Sea Villas.
I will miss her so much. She was such a bright light and always will be a amazing influence in my life. I loved her childlike excitement about everything she did. Her energy was amazing. I love her so much and I light a candle to her. I hope to see her in heaven someday and I know I will recognize her one of a kind spirit even without her earthy body.
Peace to you Mary
