Obituary of Daniel Spira

Daniel Jerome Spira passed away Saturday March 13, 2021 from injuries caused by a collision with a car while on his bicycle. He was 38 years old living in Denver, Colorado.

Born in Denver on August 30, 1982 and growing up in Larchmont, New York and Denver.  Dan attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and Denver where he majored in Political Science.

An avid cyclist, Daniel raced criterions, cyclocross and road, gravel, urban and mountain events. He trained at every opportunity and was beloved and admired by his teammates as a member of the DBC Racing Team.

He worked as a bike mechanic, ski technician and bicycle courier. Equally passionate about electronic music, he composed numerous tracks created by himself and friends and performed as a DJ at events in Denver.

He loved international travel and visited Russia, Korea, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Mexico, Sweden, and Israel among other places with family and school.

He was loved and adored by his family for his enthusiasm and persistence. He enjoyed spending time in Montezuma, Colorado where the family has kept a home, racing sailboats with his dad, dining with his sister, rollerblading with his brother and celebrating the holidays with his family. He was a proud cat dad to his twin cats. He loved spending time with and spoiling his nieces and nephew, Arden, Talula Bee, and Huckleberry.

Daniel is survived by his parents David Spira and Shirleyan Price, his grandmother Marjorie Price, his brother Jeremy Spira, his sister Heather Holden, and as well as his cats Fritz the Cat and Leeloo Dallas Multipass.

A memorial service will take place at 10AM on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the Cheesman Park Pavillion.
