I was saddened to hear about Ellen's passing. I am grateful that I worked with her at Meals on Wheels. Her kindness and compassion showed to everyone, especially our volunteers. The volunteers at the St Anthony site adored her.
We often talked in her office after meetings. You saw the glow in her eyes when she talked of her family. She was proud of Jonathan and his beautiful family, Stewart for sharing their lives together.
I believe Deb Brown expressed it well in her message and I share the dame thoughts of Ellen.
She will be missed, but she's is in the hearts of so many of the people's lives she touched.

I am so very sorry for you loss. My mother (Florese) and Ellen's mother were great friends, and I can't remember a time when I didn't know Adele, Curt and their girls. A family full of love and tenderness. May that love in Ellen's heart always be with you all, and be passed from generation to generation.

Stewart & Jonathan:
My life was truly blessed when Ellen and I met and worked together at Meals on Wheels. We were the TWINS (well...the Arnold Schwarzenegger & Danny DeVito version) and we both loved to talk and laugh. I will never forget our conversations on the way home from work (yes....we continued to talk even on our drives home!) as well as our lunches at Panera (asian sesame chicken salads). Watching Ellen work her magic with volunteers was amazing. She never forgot a volunteers name because she wrote them down in her daily work journal where she also remembered their birthday. She made each and every volunteer feel special and valued. She was simply incredible her job! And many of us were the recipient of one of her DELICIOUS birthday cakes to celebrate our special day. And my husband got a few cakes, too! Ellen treated everyone with kindness and compassion and her love for her family was profound. I loved to hear stories of Jonathan from college to graduation, professional career, meeting, dating and marrying Ruby as well as her journey to CO to be closer to Ruby, Georgie (and soon.....Nora!) And, I will treasure every handwritten card that we exchanged throughout the past two years. Selfishly my heart breaks because I will never hear her voice and laughter again but I promise to you that I will "share a piece of Ellen" each and everyday in both my personal and professional lives.
Ironically, Ellen gave me a bird bath and 3 potted plants before moving to Colorado. After the funeral yesterday, I walked outside to get some fresh air. I looked over at the bird bath and there was a beautiful red cardinal sitting on the edge. I know it was Ellen saying "hi" to me. And you better believe I had a conversation with her, too!!

This photo has so many stories, so many warm memories, so many beautiful relationships and a tribute to our beautiful and treasured Ellen. For over 30 years, our families have shared simchas, life cycle events, tennis games, vacations, Mah Jongg, BT, and just everyday life. Ellen will forever inspire us to love and care...as she did each and every day! We will miss you special friend!

Ellen and I met at Meals on Wheels. Her enthusiasm and work ethic led to so many improvements regarding the volunteers of MOW. She made you feel valued. She could never do enough for anyone, always trying to make things better. And she made the best cookies. My sincere condolences to Stewart, Jonathan, Ruby and her two beautiful granddaughters. It breaks my heart that she is gone but I am glad her suffering has ended.

I remember the first time I met Ellen at Beth Tfiloh. I remember saying to her, “Wow. You look so much like a friend of mine.” She laughed and laughed when she told me Jody was her sister. I had no idea. But I soon grew to admire the Jody-Ellen dynamic and their particular closeness as sisters.
We have a tradition in Judaism that, at the end of days, souls will return to this world and reunite with those they love. For Stewart, Jon, Jody and the rest of the extended family, we pray for comfort for Ellen’s soul now and for the days of techiyat hameitim soon. May HaShem bring you comfort until that day arrives.

For Jon and the entire family, My deepest condolences for the loss of Ellen. Jon was my first roommate at Muhlenberg and one of my best friends at college, and I still remember meeting Ellen on our first day at Muhlenberg. She was such a caring person full of positive, loving energy and full of smiles. I know she was such an important part of Jon's life and helped make Jon the wonderful, loving person he is. I send my love and support to the entire family. May you all find some peace during these difficult times.

I am so sorry to hear of Ellen's passing. I worked with her, and shared an office with her at the Epilepsy Association of MD for many years in the 90's (she as the school education coordinator, and me as the public education coordinator). We were the two Ellen's (and before I got married, we were both "Ellen F"). She taught me so much in my position, we did puppet shows together in schools, and she had endless optimism, energy, inspiration, and deep love for her family. My sister, by chance, ended up being a volunteer at Meals on Wheels years later and also got the privilege of getting to know Ellen. My thoughts are with her family at this difficult time. Know that she was such a bright light to many.

Words cannot describe the generous, incredible, joyful and amazing woman Ellen was and she will be dearly missed. Our love goes out to Stewart, Jonathan, her Sisters and entire family on your loss. The world is dimmed without Ellen's infectious smile. Since 1977 when we first became friends, Ellen was the happiest person I knew - except when she had to wear this gown that she really disliked! She still looked beautiful. We are so sorry for your loss. Sending our prayers and love.

Ellen and I have been friends for 40 years and throughout those years we shared many of the ups and downs of life’s journey. Her kindness was beyond measure and words would be insufficient to convey her love for her family. I’ll miss her laughter, her loyalty and her joy at so many little things like the many potted plants and herbs on her deck, our matching PJ’s and comparing notes on the latest TV shows...all the little things in life. Ellen touched so many people and will always be with us. Rest easy now my dear, dear friend. Elaine and Denny
