Lubecks All! I am so sorry to hear of Sue's passing. Sue was, for me, an incredible support through a very difficult post-adolescent moment in late high school and early college. I knew your family because your father made some pottery alongside my father, and through that my mother and Sue became friends. Without prompting, Sue recognized in 1973 and 1974 that I was having a hard time and, despite all her other commitments, generously managed to make me feel welcome in your home, arranged for my high school Senior Year Project with jewelers Nelson Giesecke and Richard Kimball, and even made sure I had a decent haircut, for once! I last visited her in the summer of 2019, when we had lunch together at a restaurant near the Bookies. I am sorry my spouse, Mark, never had a chance to meet her. She was, for me, an enduring model of generosity and a constant ray of sunshine.
I send you all my very best wishes, along with my heartfelt condolences for your loss.

I was one of those new moms coming to Sue’s house about 1975, shopping for my three year old. I adored her. I began teaching in Cherry Creek in 1976 and had a 30 year career. Every gift to someone, classroom items or just browsing happened at the Bookies. I moved to the Chicago area in 2004 and I was so happy to be with grandchildren and my daughter and son-in-law but ever so sad to leave the Bookies. Sue was a friend to us all and she always had great personal advice. I talk about her and the Bookies still to this day. Thanks for being YOU, Sue Leslie Hamilton
