Obituary of Michael Warren Spizz
Michael Warren Spizz, born in Brooklyn, NY, February 12, 1942, passed peacefully December 11, 2021, Denver, Colorado. Mike is predeceased by his parents Reuben and Rachel, his brother Lynn, and the love of his life, best friend, and life partner of 36 years, Donna Miller. He is survived by his brother Norman (Mara), sister Gwendolyn (Mike), many cousins, nieces, and nephews, near and far, and his step-children, Karri (Eric) and Kellyn (Garrett). He was Papa Mike to eight grandchildren.
Mike enjoyed the simplest and purest things in life. Sitting around telling stories with friends and family, fishing, or chatting with customers whether he was selling them smoked fish, stunt airplanes, or driving them in a charter bus. With Donna and their expanded family, they traveled, danced, and fished all over the world. If he met you, he never forgot you. If he saw you again after many years, he still remembered things that were important in your life and asked you about them. He loved telling jokes, dancing, singing, and playing the slots. If you met Michael, even once, you never forgot him. It was impossible not to feel joy after speaking with him for even just a few minutes. He would always offer a helping hand, and never ever turn you down if you needed help of any kind.
He was stubborn, determined, and in his own words invincible; he overcame a slow debilitating loss of balance and ability to use his legs over the past several decades of his life, yet, he always figured out a way to overcome and continue providing laughter, love, and help to all around him.
Michael will be missed more than words can say. He truly left his mark on this world in the simplest and purest way, with his smile, his love, and his stories.
