Some memories of Herb:
Child of the Depression
First person in our family to travel the world and extensively living abroad
Pitched pennies on the pavement as an outdoor game - too poor to have toys
Always looked on the bright side of life - and if he didn't agree with you on a discussion topic he would say "I don't buy that....you're full of baloney".
Lived a very simple lifestyle without indulgent possessions......One that he did follow was listening to International Radio signals at night in DC back in the 1960's.
He inferred that the Cyprus Greece revolution was very dangerous for him while he was there and that pushed him to retire from the US Government for health reasons
My personal style of humor actually was derived from Herb's...He could be very sarcastic but stated in a rather joyous manner that seemed to be fun and appealing.
He was a gentle soul and a Gentleman and loved to cruise The Caribbean islands.
